Mesheck lived in Deerfield, Massachusetts. He was originally enslaved by the Reverend John Williams who willed Mescheck to his daughter Abigail Williams Hinsdale on his death in 1729. In the reverend's probate inventory is "The Molatto boy Meseck 80L." He is listed on the same line as a box worth two shillings, and a trunk worth seven shillings.
Sometime after 1732, Hinsdale was stationed at Fort Dummer in southern Vermont, as a missionary to the Indigenous people. For eight years Mesheck was there as well, as Hinsdale's "servant." The military paid him for his time.
On January 31, 1747, "Mesheck Servant to mr Ebenezer Hinsdell" was admitted to Communion in Deerfield's church and he was baptized on the same day.
Ebenezer Hinsdale had two stores- one in Deerfield, and another in Hinsdale, New Hampshire, a town he founded. While he tended one store, Mesheck tended the other.
