Mesheck lived in Deerfield, Massachusetts. He was originally enslaved by the Reverend John Williams, and appears in Williams's 1729 probate inventory as "The Molatto boy Meseck 80L." He is listed on the same line as a box worth two shillings, and a trunk worth seven shillings. Sarah Williams, the reverend's daughter, might have been Mesheck's next enslaver as the probate inventory taken after her death in 1737 included "a Molatto fellow." By 1747, he was enslaved by Sarah's sister Abigail and her husband Ebenezer Hinsdale, the same year he was baptized and admitted into church fellowship.
Mesheck's responsibilities included running Hinsdale's stores in Deerfield and Hinsdale, New Hampshire. He had an account at Elijah Williams's store in the 1750s.
