Description:
Elijah Williams (1712-1771) and David Field (1712-1792) kept this account book recording their retail business at Fort Hinsdale, New Hampshire, and Deerfield, Massachusetts, 1744-1746. They dealt in household goods and supplies and their customers included enslaved African Americans. The Williams & Field account book is part of a collection of more than 600 account books currently in the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association Library kept by local merchants, professionals, farmers, craftspeople, and business firms from the 17th - 20th centuries.
