Parthena and her husband Frank were enslaved by the Reverend John Williams of Deerfield, Massachusetts, who married them on June 4, 1703. In February of 1704, Deerfield was attacked by French soldiers from Canada with their Indigenous allies. Those killed during the raid included Parthena. Among the captured was Reverend Williams, who later noted Parthena's death in his book, The Redeemed Captive Returning to Zion. He wrote that "some were so cruel and barbarous as to take and carry to the door two of my children and murder them, as also a negro woman." (pg. 12)
