Bio

Pompey, described as a "large and robust man," was enslaved by the Rev. David Parsons of Amherst, Massachusetts and before that, likely lived in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Church records show that he was admitted to membership in the Amherst church in 1758 via a transfer letter from a church there. Pompey and his wife Rose had a son named Goffy, who was baptized in the Amherst church around 1748.
