Bio

Elijah lived in Deerfield, Massachusetts. He was a military man, judge, civil engineer, and a storekeeper. In 1766, he had Onesimus baptized. A 1765 entry in Salah Barnard's account and day book shows that Elijah rented a horse from Barnard for "yr Negro man". This might refer to Onesimus. On numerous occasions Elijah rented Prince from Joseph Barnard. He also rented Titus from Samuel Barnard and in 1765, he used the services of freed African American, Abijah Prince.
