Bio

Ishmael was enslaved by Thomas Dickinson of Deerfield, Massachusetts. From 1746 to 1757, he had an account at Elijah Williams' store, where he purchased stockings, rum, gloves, garters, a silk handkerchief, and knee buckles, among other items. He paid his debt in cash, by digging a grave, working for a day, and providing pine for building a scow (boat).
