Peter, Jr. was the oldest of five children born to Peter, Sr. and Violette (Lettie) Green of Colrain, Massachusetts. Both of Peter Jr.'s parents were born in Africa. He married Tinner Proctor of Greenfield, Massachusetts, on March 22, 1814, and the couple had at least four children- Isaac, Hezekiah, Charles, and John. The 1830 census lists five "free colored" members in Peter, Jr.'s household- Peter, Tinner, and three boys under the age of 10. He appears in the 1850 federal census for Bernardston, Massachusetts as being 62 years old and living with a man named Silas Green. Peter died at the age of 79, and is buried next to his father in the Brick School Cemetery in Colrain. His brother Charles is buried nearby.
