Bio

Sylvia, who sometimes went by "Mary," was from Amherst, Massachusetts. She was the oldest daughter of Margaret Sash, who was Indigenous, and Jepthah Pharaoh. In 1816, Sylvia married Robert Frazier of nearby Whately. They had two unnamed daughters born in 1816 and 1818, and a son, Lewis B., born in 1820. Sylvia next married Solomon Palmer of Amherst, with whom she had three more children born between 1824 and 1829. Two of these lived to adulthood. Sylvia died of smallpox.
