Bio

The Reverend Roger Newton of Greenfield, Massachusetts noted in his diary on July 23, 1799, the death of "Romus, a Negro Man." He was 63 years old. This might be Romulus Fenimore, Sr., who lived in Shelburne, Massachusetts. He married Rose (Rozannah) on October 28, 1778. They had three children: Romulus, Jr. was born in 1787 and died in 1789, Amarilla was born in 1792, and Lois in 1798.
