Caesar lived in Deerfield, Massachusetts and was enslaved by Col. Ebenezer Hinsdale. He fought in the French and Indian War (1754-1763). (Sheldon, George, History of Deerfield, Vol. II, pg. 894) In 1750, Hinsdale had a pair of shoes made for him and in 1753, Caesar purchased a pair of shoe buckles from storekeeper Elijah Williams.
