"Joel Negro" appears in two 1808 entries in Orlando Ware's day book. Ware had a store in Deerfield, Massachusetts. Thomas Barnard purchased rum for Joel and delivered it to him, and Thomas Wells purchased "sundries" (various items) and delivered them to Joel.
