• This Indenture made this twenty first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six between Rufus Saxton Dennis Stebbins and Amos Russell Selectmen and Overseers of the poor of the Town of Deerfield in the County of Franklin and Commonwealth of Massachusetts on the one part, and John Wilson of the same Deerfield Esq^r on the other part witneseth- That the said Overseers by virtue of the powers and authority to them given in and by a Cause of the said Commonwealth entitled "until providing for the the relief and support, employment and removal of the poor and for repealing all former laws made for those purposes" passed on the twenty sixth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four, have set to work, and do hereby set to work and bind out to the said John Wilsom from the date hereof untill the first day of November next, a negro man residing in the said town of Deerfield by the name of Schuyler Salisbury, unmarried person, upwards of twenty one years of age, who is able of body, but has no visible means of support, he lives idly, and [?] and uses no daily or ordinary lawful trade or business to get his living by- during all which time the said Schuyler shall faithfully serve the said John Wilson and obey all his lawful commands- he shall waste any of his goods, nor do any damage to him whatever- And the said John Wilson on his part doth engage, that during the time that the said Schuyler shall continue faithfully to serve him as aforesaid he the said John will furnish him with sufficient & suitable meat drink, lodging and wearing apparel- In testimony wereof the parties aforesaid have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written -- Signed sealed & delivered Rufus Saxton in presence of us Dennis Stebbins Claudius H Stebbins Amos Russell William R.
